This week we started the presentations on our essay topics and/or topics of interest related to our essays during class. It has been really interesting watching how everyone approached this rather open-ended assignment differently. Some people discussed their essay topics and just went into more details, however some others picked topics of interest that were related to this unit and dove deeper into those ideas. I enjoyed those a lot because in most cases the topics that my classmates picked was something that they felt really passionate about sharing with everyone. I personally didn’t have another topic that interested me, therefore I focused on my essay topic in more depth, specifically looking more at the authors of some of my sources. I did some more research on them, because having that context before reading the quotes from their letters helped a lot. I noticed many of my classmates did this as well, just with context in general. Everyone was really thoughtful and added really helpful information and background that I needed to understand the rest of their presentations and ideas. While I was fond of a lot of this unit, I am also exited to move on to more creative writing because I really enjoy it. I am looking forward to our creative writing assignment because I really love creative writing and have not found a lot of time on it yet in college.
