Brainstorming:
For my final project, I have been considering working on researching the uses of letter writing in creative writing, and potentially just some research on creative writing in general. I have the examples that we used in class to possibly incorporate, as well as my own creative writing piece that incorporated letters into it. I really enjoy the topic of creative writing, therefore I think it would be the best topic for me to work on since I find it interesting and am passionate about it. It is always easier to write & present about something you like. Ideas for what I am thinking of looking at: the different ways letters are incorporated into creative writing (including how frequently and extensively they are used), the impact that they have on creative writing (how they contribute to the story, plot line, character development etc..), and why letters are used in creative writing (reasons & purposes that the authors intend, maybe a certain message being portrayed). In addition to this, before I dive in to the impact that letters have on creative writing, I would like to explore creative writing as a whole. This includes taking a look at the definition of what creative writing really is, different types of creative writing, components of creative writing, and the general purposes of creative writing. Then after doing this brief research, I can look deeper into what role letters play within creative writing, which I feel is a good transition into my main research and argument(s). I think after my research I will work on forming some type of thesis on how letters impact creative writing, and what they contribute. I feel like there isn’t a clear thesis right now, but after I research maybe there will be a common theme that I find and want to use.
